The QFX5100-96S-AFO is one of several QFX5100 switches designed for 10G applications, but it’s the only one that’s 2 RU in size. All other QFX5100 switches are only 1 RU in size. It’s larger body allows for more ports and an overall greater port density. The QFX5100 has a total of 96 SFP ports that support up to 10G Ethernet each, in addition to eight QSFP ports. The QSFP ports each support up to 40G Ethernet, but two of those ports can be broken out into four 10G Ethernet channels, which brings the number of supported 10G Ethernet ports to 104. Only two other QFX5100 switch models support as many 10G Ethernet ports. The maximum capacity on the QFX5100-96S is 2.56 Tbps. All QFX5100-96S switches, including the QFX5100-96S-AFO, are designed with only two management ports. One is an RJ-45 port and the other is an SFP port. Some QFX5100 switches include three management ports. The QFX5100-96S-AFO is designed with front-to-back airflow. This model has an AC power supply, and at 263 W, it consumes more power than almost any other QFX5100 switch model, due to its larger size and greater port density.
